Just after Christmas, Dot and Tom celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. As an anniversary gift, their children gave them a family photo session at their home. They started their session wearing antique clothing–Dot wore the wedding dress that was Tom’s grandmother’s. The tuxedo was not worn to the wedding, but it belonged to his grandfather.
Hymn to the Nameless One Now as the year swings down, and the darkness encloses even the smallest bird, the largest animal, and we too enter the hour when everything is falling once more into the twilight of not knowing, what we ask is that you be with us, not as a pillar of fire
Ed and the Battle at Wounded Knee I subscribe electronically to The Writer’s Almanac. My morning email today included a poem by Philip Dacey, and a very informative article about today being the anniversary of the massacre at Wounded Knee. If you know as little as I did until this morning, this event happened on
I’ve been working with Boston ad agency Karmory to prepare this image I took of “Biker Mike” for a billboard for one of their clients, Bruce Rossmeyer’s Harley-Davidson. The billboard went up on Monday, just south of exit 273 near Daytona Beach, Florida. That’s a long way from my home in New Hampshire! I’d love

The Brass Herald is a publication for all brass musicians based in Cambridge (that’s the ORIGINAL Cambridge, in England, not that upstart town in Massachusetts). This month they’re featuring the amazing ladies of the Stiletto Brass Quintet. The cover photo is from our shoot last April at The Belknap Mill in Laconia, New Hampshire. To
This is the beginning of a long-term personal project with Belknap County Nursing Home. Over the course of the next year, I’ll visit the residents many times to create multiple portraits for many of them. How it started: On the back of each of my business cards is a black and white portrait. There are
It’s always exciting to see my work featured in a national blog or magazine. Lyndsey and Matt’s elegant elopement is featured on Simply Elope! The Lomography Petzval Art lens is a very special lens that was first made in 1840 by the Lomography company. This lens produces a swirly bokeh effect, which is what interested me. It creates a beautiful sense of movement around a still subject. The Lomography Petzval Art lens was designed by physicist Josef Petzal and
Kirk brought Gretchen from Michigan to Castle in the Clouds in New Hampshire. He had a secret agenda. I was hired in advance. I had to be ready, but I was also under cover. So I pretended I was photographing gardens and statues while I hovered nearby them. Until he proposed. His plan began long
A five-year love affair brought them to this decision. To Lyndsey and Matt, eloping meant simple and romantic. They flew in from Lincoln, Nebraska to elope at the Manor on Golden Pond, an English-style manor overlooking Squam Lake in Holderness, New Hampshire. Congratulations, newlyweds! Venue: Manor on Golden Pond Officiant: David Berman, New Hampshire Justice
How to Eat an Elephant “Maundy, I love following your work. Love the way you document strangers’ stor[ies]. I was wondering if I could get any tips from you? I started my photography site couple years ago and lets just say that it’s been really challenging… I’m getting ready to try and take it to

Last week, I had the incredible honor and privilege of photographing Heidi & Paula’s wedding. The couple started their day with a private First Look in a beautiful conservation area near their home. The ceremony and reception were held at La Piece the Room in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Heidi & Paula chose
Ashley and Drew were high school sweethearts. They stayed close even when he joined the Marines. Then, while on leave last year, he proposed to her with his great-grandmother’s ring. They will be married next year.
People often think of hiring a professional photographer for occasions like anniversaries, family reunions, or birthday parties. Aaron and Tara wanted a photo session not to celebrate a milestone, but simply to capture the precious moments of everyday life—a relaxed session at their home for their son, Leo, their 12-year-old dog, Max, and their family.
