I started photographing dancers under the guidance of photographer Lois Greenfield in NYC years ago. From that work, I learned how essential it is to direct people toward your vision for an image, even if you don\u2019t speak their language. (I don\u2019t speak \u201cdance,\u201d or French. More on the French part in the next blog post!)<\/p>\n

My\u00a0goal for dancers until now has been to show movement, strength and grace, while carefully composing all of the elements of the shot. This photo session was\u00a0similar, in a subtler way.<\/p>\n

In the same manner as the others who I\u2019ve photographed for \u201cLife\u2019s Work,\u201d I planned what Amy\u00a0would wear and bring.\u00a0 The main goal for this shoot was to show the pride she has in her work. I also\u00a0wanted to\u00a0add some of the elements of dance photography that I love–hinting at movement and strength.<\/p>\n
