Recently, I got to meet and create new headshots for the witch!\u00a0\u00a0You can see her in person, too.\u00a0\u00a0Grace Gilbert is playing the witch in Plymouth State University’s<\/a> production of Into the Woods<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0The show opens on Thursday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m. There will be four performances this weekend only at the Hanaway Theatre in the Silver Center for the Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n

The book by James Lapine and play by Stephen Sondheim combine everyone\u2019s favorite storybook characters in a timeless, yet relevant, musical. The Tony Award-winning book and musical performance combine the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairytales to explore the consequences of the characters’ desires and quests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King\u2019s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch\u2019s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone\u2019s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n

One of Sondheim\u2019s most popular works, “Into the Woods” is a musically sophisticated show which features actors who are adept at dark comedy.
